Fed: Cause of explosion to be unknown for "some time" Govt

Immigration Minister CHRIS EVANS says the cause of a deadly explosion on a boat carrying
asylum seekers is unlikely to be known for some time.

Navy and police are investigating the explosion that killed three people .. left two
missing and wounded dozens more near Ashmore reef yesterday morning.

West Australian Premier COLIN BARNETT has said it's believed the wooden boat was doused
with petrol by those on board before the explosion occurred.

But Senator EVANS has told ABC Radio it's too early to speculate.

He says one thing learnt from the children overboard affair is that politicians shouldn't
be making claims about things they don't know.
